AS38008 BGP Customer Guide

Notes

  • To setup BGP session(s), open a new support ticket, providing your ASN(s). Then configure your sessions with AS38008 at 103.152.35.254/2406:4440::1.
  • To control egress route, check reroute.apernet.io
  • To check our current route filters, see routing.apernet.io
  • When you configure a transit session with our router, AperIX route server sessions are also automatically configured for you. Visit ix.apernet.io for more information about AperIX.
  • Action communities only work for customers. Feel free to contact support if you find something you want to do but can't with the communities.

Info communities

AS38008 tags prefixes that are learned or originated as follows:

  • (38008, 100): route originated by AS38008
  • (38008, 101): route from route server
  • (38008, 102): route from direct peer
  • (38008, 103): route from transit
  • (38008, 104): route from customer

Export controls

Use the following communities to control route propagation:

  • (38008, 60000): no-export to any
  • (38008, 60001): no-export to route server
  • (38008, 60002): no-export to all direct peers
  • (38008, 60003): no-export to all transits
  • (0, peer-as) or (38008, 0, peer-as): no-export to peer-as; this is also passed to HKIX RS.
  • (1, peer-as) or (38008, 1, peer-as): export to peer-as, overrding (38008, 60000).
  • (65511, peer-as) or (38008, 65511, peer-as): prepend 1x to peer-as.
  • (65512, peer-as) or (38008, 65512, peer-as): prepend 2x to peer-as.
  • (65513, peer-as) or (38008, 65513, peer-as): prepend 3x to peer-as.

For example, tag routes with (0, 6939) to disable export to AS6939.

Import controls

AS38008 uses the followings as default local-pref:

  • 10: transit
  • 20: route server
  • 30: direct peers
  • 40: customer
  • 50: customer (override)

Use the following communities to override local-pref:

  • (38008, 50000): set local-pref 0.
  • (38008, 50001): set local-pref 10.
  • (38008, 50002): set local-pref 20.
  • (38008, 50003): set local-pref 30.
  • (38008, 50004): set local-pref 40.
  • (38008, 50005): set local-pref 50.

For example, tag routes with (38008, 50000) to set local-pref 0 so that the route won't be installed or re-announce to peers if it's already available from transit or peering.
